Overview
A verification is how you confirm a member's identity in the Verify module. You start one against a member's record, choose the policy that applies, and enter their document details so the platform can check them against the relevant document sources.
You'll run one whenever you need to confirm who someone is before acting on their account. The whole thing is guided, so you're never guessing what to fill in next: find the member, start a new verification, pick a policy, and enter the document information you're asked for.
Because every verification is tied to a member record, the result is saved against that member. You can come back and review the outcome whenever you need to.
Before your first verification
Agreeing to the Terms and Conditions is mandatory. They set out the consent requirements and the approved permitted purposes your organisation can use Verify for. You'll be prompted to accept them the first time you run a verification, so it's worth reading through them before you start.
Run a verification
- Open the Verify module, then click Members in the secondary navigation to open the members page.
- Find your member by entering their account number, member number, first name or surname in the search bar, then click Filter.
Quick search
If you leave the search bar empty and click Filter, you'll get the full list of members. Handy when you're not sure of the exact details, just pick your member from the results.
- Click the highlighted member number, or the paper icon on the right of the list, to open their details.
- Click New verification.
- Select a Policy from the drop-down list, tick the Consent checkbox, then click Start.
- Select the required identity document or documents. Depending on the policy you chose, the Verify platform tells you how many documents you'll need to submit for verification. The points of ID screen shows how many documents you need and which ones you can use.
- Fill out the identity document information provided to you, matching the fields shown for each document.
- Once you've entered the document details, continue to the Document Verification Service (DVS) consent gate. Tick the consent for search checkbox, then proceed with the search.
That's it. Once you've given consent and run the search, the Verify module checks the documents for you.
When a verification succeeds
When a check passes, you'll be notified and the member's record is updated with the result automatically, so there's nothing more for you to do.
You can review the outcome any time from Verifications. There you'll see the verification ID, the policy used, the status, and the documents that were checked, along with any PEP (politically exposed person) or watchlist outcome if your policy includes those checks.
When a verification fails
If a document can't be verified, it's highlighted as an error so you can see exactly what didn't match. You'll be prompted to go back, check the details, and try again.
More often than not, it's a small typo, a transposed number, or a name that doesn't quite match what's on the document. Compare what you've entered against the physical document, correct anything that's off, and resubmit.
