Overview
Sometimes you'll need to get an exact copy of a message into someone else's hands. A customer says they didn't receive their statement, a colleague wants to see what went out before they reply to a query, or you need to forward a notification to a different address for review.
The Send copy feature does just that. From the Preview of any sent message, you can deliver a true-to-original copy to a nominated email address or mobile number — no need to re-run the send or recreate the message. It's the quickest way to get an exact replica of a communication in front of the right person.
Heads up
Send copy is available for email and SMS only. It isn't supported for Print or other channel types.
Preview a document
- In the secondary navigation menu, click Lists to view all your data lists.
- Find the list you want to work with. Use the search field or the filters at the top (status, channel, application, or date range) to narrow things down if you've got a lot to look through.
- Double-click the list to open it, or click the list icon on the far right of the row. You'll land on the Documents tab by default, showing every record inside.
- The Documents tab gives you a row for every record in the list, including name, email, mobile, and send status.
- Double-click an individual record, or click the document icon on the left of the row, to open the preview dialog.
- The preview dialog shows the send details at the top and the rendered communication below.
That's it. You'll see the rendered communication along with the key send details: when it went out, the current status, who it came from, who it went to, and the subject line. If you want a closer look, click Open in new window to view the full document in its own tab.
Send a copy of a message
Inside the preview dialog you'll find the Send copy button. This is your shortcut for getting a copy of the correspondence out the door without setting up a fresh send.Send copy sits alongside Open in new window at the top of the preview dialog.
There are two primary reasons you'll reach for this:
- Preflight testing. Before a campaign goes live, fire off a copy to yourself or a tester to see exactly how it'll render for a real recipient, including any personalisation. It's the closest thing to a real send without committing to the full campaign.
- On-demand resends. After a send has gone out, a colleague or recipient might need another look at the correspondence. Use Send copy to drop it to them straight from the record, no new campaign required
- In the Preview dialog, click Send copy. This will open a modal dialog prompt.
- Enter the email address or mobile number you want the copy delivered to.
- Click Send copy to deliver the copy in real-time.
That's it — your copy is on its way.
The recipient will receive an exact replica of the original message, including all personalisation and formatting as it was at the time of the original send. The original send record stays untouched.
When you'd use this
A few common scenarios where Send copy comes in handy:
- A recipient asks for the email to be resent to a different address.
- You need to forward an SMS notification to a colleague for review.
- A customer service team member wants to see exactly what was sent before responding to an enquiry.
- You're troubleshooting a deliverability issue and want to test the same content against a different address.
Because the copy is generated from the original send record, you can be confident you're seeing exactly what was delivered — not a re-render that might pick up newer template changes or different data.
