Using Filters in CX Platform

What you'll learn in this guide

Get comfortable with one of the most useful tools in CX Platform — the filter. We'll cover where you'll find filters, how they work, and a few practical tips for getting to the right data quickly.

Overview

Filters are everywhere in CX Platform. Whether you're digging into a campaign's performance, hunting down a specific archived communication, or tidying up a list of templates, filters are how you cut through the noise and zero in on what matters.

The good news is they all work in much the same way. Once you've got the hang of filters in one area, you'll find them just as easy to use in another. It's the same pattern repeated across dashboards, reports, archives, and data lists.

This guide gives you the lay of the land — where filters live, how to apply them, and how to get the most out of them when you're troubleshooting, reporting, or just trying to find that one thing.

Where you'll find filters

Filters show up across the platform anywhere you're working with a list, a log, or a chart. Here are the main places to look:

  • Dashboards and reports — narrow your charts and data by date, status, channel, application, or any other key field.
  • Templates and Applications — filter by creator, category, status, or creation date when you're managing your library.
  • Activity logs — including Send Activity and Receive Activity, where you can filter by time range, channel, status, or user actions.
  • Verification and compliance — filter by member number, policy, status, or verification date to find specific events.
  • Archive and general data lists — anywhere you see a table of users, members, batches, or communications, filters are at the top or down the side ready to go.

‍

How filters work

The mechanics are the same wherever you are. Find the filter bar, pick your criteria, apply, and the view updates. Here's the full flow:

  1. Locate the filter bar at the top of the list, dashboard, or report you're working in. You'll see a row of dropdowns, date pickers, and search fields.
  2. Select your criteria. Pick from dropdowns like All statuses, Date range, or Category, or type into a search field if one's available.
  3. Click Filter to apply your selections. In some areas the view will refresh automatically as you choose — either way, you'll see the results update to match.
  4. Refine your results by adding more filters, or Clear filters to start over with the full dataset.

That's it — same four steps, whether you're filtering an Archive search, a dashboard, or a template list.

Stacking filters works
‍
Most areas let you apply more than one filter at a time. Combining status, date, and channel is often the quickest way to find what you're after — especially when you're auditing a specific send or chasing a single record across a busy log.

Tips for getting the most out of filters

A few habits that make filtering easier:

  • Start broad, then narrow down. A wide date range like the last 30 days gives you a sense of the overall picture. From there, add filters to drill into what catches your eye.
  • Isolate one thing at a time when troubleshooting. If you're chasing a deliverability issue, filter by bounce status on its own first. Adding too many filters at once can hide the pattern you're looking for.
  • Combine filters for precision. When you need to be exact — for an audit, a compliance review, or a stakeholder report — status, date, and channel together will give you a tight, defensible view.
  • Clear your filters if results look off. If a list seems emptier than expected, a filter from earlier might still be active. A quick reset will rule it out.
